FOX NEWS does it again...

Tell me can any news source get caught fabricating (and sometimes flat out lying) more than this one?!? I'm so cynical about the state of our news and media these days, I know. But the blatant slant to story telling is frustrating to say the least. I may need to resort to just listening to the radio until NPR can come out with a channel on TV.

I don't care how you "label it"... the conservative, far right, theocrats, what-have-you believe in preserving social traditional social orders and values. Some of these values I agree with WHOLEHEARTEDLY, but not at the expense of the truth OR of real people and real issues. I don't give myself any particular "label" at all. I am a Christian at heart. That's the only label I want! And that is the primary reason why I care about our society... in it's entirety. No man/woman/child left behind!!!!

Rap duo 'Dude N Nem', live at this address that Fox News Chicago claimed was a sham because his home was a vacant lot. Regardless of this man's background (or whether his place of business looks just like yours) he is part of the Census... and part of our country where everyone deserves to be counted, to vote, to have a chance at a county contract, and to have a second chance. Maybe some of these contracts are a bit shady. But funny how we rarely see larger scale shady contracts when it involves companies from the other side of the tracks. OK I'm ranting so feel free to disagree with me here. It's funny how they actually fight back. There are planning a march/protest tomorrow, the 27th. Check out the video...
The essence of this is believing what you see and hear at face value all the time. Most of the US lives in a bubble. Ignorance is NOT bliss. Once you KNOW better, you can DO better.

Nosey noses

A late dinner conversation last night made me ponder something I had been thinking about since my last blog about donations for Uganda. I was speaking with a man who is experiencing some family troubles. His situation has repeatedly been made worse buy his sister-in-law. The two of them rarely speak outside of holidays and really just 'tolerate' each other. The minute he began to "go thru some things" she felt the need to express her concern. Nothing wrong with that right?? Well, not if you are sincere and try to learn the situation (from the source) before speaking. But there is so much wrong with expressing your concern to the wrong audience or WITH THE WRONG MOTIVE.

So many women hate other women. We are trained to see each other as competition and not to bring each other up. This happens in both our personal and professional lives and has been heavy on my heart for a while now. I have so many mentors and little sister type of friends that exemplify what sisterly love can be and I am grateful for that.

Now not all of us will agree on all levels. That's life. If you use vocabulary like 'lovies' or squeal a lot we likely won't have a lot in common and be close friends, LOL. But that's the great part of life... finding those who DO share some of the same things and enjoy you for you. Unfortunately too many people are unhappy with themselves or maybe in certain areas of their life and y'all females come off straight petty, jealous, and yup... NOSEY.

Inquire only if you genuinely care. Check yourself because believe me, other people will. Your fear of what you don't understand or envy in another woman is obvious. We see your insecurities. That fake friendliness is worse than anything.

As a person I've done my best to stay out of drama and gossip situations. This has resulted in cutting out or limiting time for people who are not positive in my life. This isn't always easy and I know I have my own faults. But let's reevaluate and try to surround ourselves with good people. I don't mean it has to be Mother Teresa types... some of the fronts people put on are masking the meanest-hearted people. I mean, surround yourself with good-hearted people. If you don't know ask God for that discernment. He'll show you. And if we can each be an example to even one other female about having love for her and not a passive animosity than I am happy.

For all my fellow Christian women who judge and gossip... I am extra disappointed, not mad. Only God can judge me or YOU. So you can either man(woman) up or continue to be in that 'basic' category. We are not defined by what we do or what we have, but by who we are.

Keep it light... Love to all the real beezys ♥

Pet Peeves

Now these are just pet peeves... not things that make me angry or sad. Intended to be fun :-)... What gets to you all?
  • FLAKEY PEOPLE - say what u mean & mean what u say
  • VOICEMAIL - if we are friends and live in the same city leavin a VM will ensure i DON'T call u back.
  • People who like stuff 'after the fact' when it's no longer relevant to the intended audience. When the masses are 'being different' together... this example could be a conversation in itself!
  • COACH brand anything - i can go on all day about this... hahahaha! coach is for the basic beezys. i call it 'the broke b*tches gucci'. if you can't afford it get an inexpensive/non-label. or even better something original or local!
  • PEOPLE WHO TALK TOO MUCH - now i'm all for communication, especially when you're really vibin' with someone. but as a rule you should talk only half as much as you listen. **people may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do.

Jill Scott "The Fact Is (I Need You)"

"The Fact Is (I Need You)"

I can pay my own light bill baby
Pump my own gas in my own car
I can buy my own shoe collection
I've been blessed thus far
I can kill the spider above my bed
Although it's hard because I'm scared
I can even stain and polyurethane
But some things just don't change
I need you yeah
Sometimes so hard to say oh
I need you
Some things remain
I could buy my own groceries baby
Get my hair tight, my nails right
I can floss my own bling bling
Write the words to the songs I sing
I can even raise the child we'll make
Make sure he's loved and knows what God gave us
I can teach him how to walk and stand
But he needs you to help him be a man
We need you
So hard to say
We need you
Some things don't change
I could be congresswoman
Or a garbage woman or
Police officer, or a carpenter
I could be a doctor and a lawyer and a mother and a good girl
God what you've done to me
Kind of lover I could be
I could be a computer analyst, the Queen with the nappy hair raising her fist
Or I could be much more and a myriad of this
Hot as the summer, sweet as the first kiss
And even though I can do all these things
I need you
And even though I can do all these things
We need you
We need you
We need you
And even though I can do all these things by my damn self
I need you
I do, I do, I do, I do
And even though I can do all these things
I need you
We need you
We do
We need you yeah
We need you

more thoughts on D.Albert

The issue here isn't just one thing. It's oh so much deeper than that.
"There are many reason's as to why this type of violence takes place in those neighborhoods. Millions of blacks were released from slavery with no economic status whatsoever, were uneducated, ignorant, and indoctrinated in violence from rape, merciless beatings, murder, and many other barbaric practices. Add to this no sense of family, no culture, no history, and no sense of pride, And from slavery, to reconstruction, to Jim Crow laws, the problems have been exacerbated by drugs, lack of opportunity, a failing education system (which is linked to economic status), and you name it." Chris
What do u do with those who don't have parents? Or those whose parents aren't educated or had a role model themselves? It's a cycle we need to break. It's a culture inside of a culture that very few people care enough about to change. We have corrupt governments in africa and other countries and it seems like the logical choice to want to help the poor and oppressed, but in our very own country with corrupt government and people who are in need we tend to blame them for the situation...

I was hesitant to even post about this again, but i cldn't stop thinking ab it knowledge is power and i don't want to be ignorant...
I think the lord gives us opportunities to help and we need to be as well equipped as possible. Maybe i can't save the world, but there will be opportunities to make it better. Some of those opportunities fall into our laps because we were open enough to prepare ourselves for it, some of the opportunities we may have to seek a little harder for.

All i know is that i care about the kids in chicago just like i do the ones in my own neighborhood. They are all the same; their economic plight is what divides them. There are some who have come and spoke out about this and i commend their initiative and leadership.

part of 2 different comments on CNN.com...

"no-one should hate a person because of what they've done, but first gain an understanding of what their mindset is, in an effort to maybe help that person. Think of it this way. Take any millionaire out there who has great morals and is completely successful. Now picture that same person being born in south central, LA, who grew up in a broken home, with a mom addicted to crack, struggling to make rent, and on the verge of being evicted. Now do u really think he would grow up to be that same millionaire? I don't think so. Chances are, he's going to grow up selling drugs, and possibly becoming a killer, to those who oppose him, given that he's in a gang..." Zach

"Our children are a reflection of us…Adults.... Look at what we are teaching them….around the world….corruption, violence, greed racism, pure hatred, war and rumors of War, self medication sanctioned by Doctors and Pharmaceuticals companies. My God …look how our leaders act, disrespect of each other, inappropriate sexual acts by Teachers, Clergy, Political Leaders, Security Authorities, calling on the death of Our President in the name of God, even Nature is rising up in protest against Humanity ! We Adults are the first one to be responsible for this sick behavior. Our children are the mirror-reflection of ourselves. This is not to excuse their choices, or behavior…however Hostility Breeds Hostility, what do we expect?. Do as I say and not as I do! History has taught us that all Great Empires fell from within. I believe that if we continue to focus on the “Elephant” in the room, “Racism”, that this Great Country will experience that same Fate....we will turn on each other. No one can change the heart and mind of another human being other than God or that person…himself or herself..." Angela Savage Austin

I have listened many times to the song, Something Is Wrong, by David Banner. It begins and ends with words from CNN reporter, Rick Sanchez. David Banner – Something Is Wrong (About Chicago Incident)

Posted using ShareThis
His comments come out of frustration, but the idea that some of our children are UNSALVAGABLE... is nothing but disturbing. And many of the hateful comments that followed that particular interview show how painfully ignorant and cruel people can be. We are all salvageable and by hating those who are hurting we don't do our society any good. How do you get a society to function?... with care for each other. Certainly not by enslaving, them, lynching them, and telling them they are hopeless. HELP US SAVE OUR CHILDREN!!!

Derrion Albert: What's the answer for our children?

This story has been one that i can't seem to get out of my head. A child in Chicago's South Side was beaten to death on Sept. 24th. 16 year old Derrion Albert was a good student who was described by his grandfather as a good kid who attended Bible class every week.

The fact is it probably wouldn't have made anything past the local news... but another youngin caught it on video. For those of you who haven't seen it, i DON'T recommend it, but it is below... FOX now has the rights to it. There was actually an audible crack of Albert's skull. It is disturbing. The person filming seems awful to have stood by and do so without helping, but you see and hear others cheer and yell, watch and participate.

Some say Chicago was quickly eliminated by the IOC (International Olympics Committee) for the 2016 Olympic Games because of the video. There is no way to know. But in the end, there is violence worldwide and in the 21st century we are faced with the actual images to replay and relive as someone loses their life.

I'd like to hear any of your thoughts. Much debate has happened over whether the Videographer is a snitch, coward, or a hero. Many of those on the street that day had phones as well and the video has brought to light much that goes on. What has gone so wrong that it comes to this? Where does the hatred stem from that our teenagers could possibly beat and kill a boy just like them?

I believe that much relies with the parents and our families, but can we also blame government and society for not supporting the family? I think so. But blaming doesn't help! How can we be proactive instead of reactive?

UPDATE: Oct. 12 - As many of you know the Derrion Albert story deeply affected me. One of my favorite artists, Common, among others, recently spoke about the incident. It's a positive message and I respect him for keeping God in the center of it. There is a void that we need to help our youth fulfill. WATCH HERE.

BP3 tees by BBC

So if you are a friend of mine on FB or follower on Twitter you saw that i've been on the BP3 album like so many people. My favorite joint is So Ambitious. This coming week BBC is releasing 3 tees with quotes from that song. I just want the first one. Seriously hot... can the boys club make a feminine version please??

So if you'd like to take a listen you can... Pharrell said he was speaking to speakin to kids. And despite a couple bad words and one line that def could've been better, the anger that drives the ambition is what makes it real. Motivation from those who can't or won't see the possibilities.
